ZIFF is sad to announce the passing away in Zanzibar, after a long battle with illness, on the 17th April 2013, of the Late Bi Fatma binti Baraka, popularly known as Bi Kidude. Bi Kidude was the most famous of Zanzibari Taarab singers. She was the undisputed queen of Taarab and was also a protégé of Siti binti Saad. A true Siti (diva) of our times Bi Kidude was the first recipient of the ZIFF Lifetime Achievement awards given each year to Tanzanian artists who have contributed to the development of the arts in Tanzania and the world.
Our darling bibi you will be so sadly missed, forever in our hearts.
