We have received the news of Guido Huysmans’ passing with shock and sadness.
Those of us who shared his love for Africa, for African cinema and for the arts will always remember him for his passionate and steadfast engagement with all things African.
He was a true ally of ZIFF and with his passing ZIFF is much the poorer for friends. May his Soul find Eternal Peace.
Guido Huysmans was Festival Director, Programmer, Communications Manager, Curator, journalist, film critic and Belgian publisher. He’s been director of the Afrika Filmfestival (Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium) that he helped to found in 1996 (with cinema historian Guido Convents). As a programmer he was responsible for communication and curator for different festivals. As Afrika Filmfestival he published books on cinema.
