Adil is 7 years old and lives in a modest house in the suburbs of Casablanca in Morocco. His father is a waiter and doesn’t like his job. One day, as no one can take care of Adil, his father takes him to a wedding where he is working. There, a traditional Moroccan band is playing. Adil had never seen a violin before and is mesmerized by the instrument. The following day, he meets a violin teacher who accepts to give him violin classes, she even lends him a violin so he can practice at home. But when his father discovers the instrument hidden in his son’s bedroom, his world collapses.
