URITHI HUU NI WETU SOTE – SHARING THIS HERITAGE

A mention of Zanzibar has always conjured up imagery of an enviable world inherited by residents and travellers that have shared the Islands’ bounty, beauty and beliefs. As they say, heritage is the embodiment of memories – described through the myriad collections of both tangible and intangible wealth that we choose to keep for the future as individuals, as communities and as nations. It is therefore imperative that we protect and conserve our significant heritage to be shared over the longest possible time with the rest of the world.

As a UNESCO World Heritage Site Stonetown defines many areas of pride, memory and reflection. As a confluence of cultures, Stonetownsymbolizes historical recollections of many a nation, a many a people and individuals. Those fishermen who brought their families and friends to settle here, those travellers who found love in Zanzibar and those of us who simply fell in love with this veritable human habitat.

The government and people of Zanzibar and all of us at ZIFF find special pleasure to reveal to the rest of the world the beauty of the waters around us, the happiness that gives us so much joy in sharing our heritage with others and proclaiming proudlyUrithiHuuniWetuSote (We all share in this heritage!
